Adventure PhotosChris SawyerHuayna Potosi: Started climbing at 1:30 am through the cold dark night with crampons and ice ax in hand. It was an absolutely gorgeous night! There was a new moon so we could see every star in the sky. The sun crested above the horizon when we were about 150 meters from the summit. Definitely the most beautiful sunrise I´ve ever seen!

Machu Picchu: Day five. Woke up early and hiked in the rain from Auguas Calientes to Machu Picchu for sunrise. As the clouds lifted, the landscape revealed Huayna Picchu. The ruins were incredible! I have no comprehension of how the city was so perfectly planned and constructed so many years ago.

Illimani: As we climbed towards the summit, the most repetitive thought in my head was “one step at a time.” Just before our first glimpse of the sunrise, we had to cross a small crevasse. My only thought was... “this is a lot more than a step.” I took a deep breath and jumped. It was great! There's more to the mountain than just the summit. Every inch must be enjoyed and respected.
